HG High-Level Research Methodology

At HG we strive to understand how we can help our clients and improve our programs.  We utilize many processes to facilitate these goals.  HG collects data for quality assurance and research purposes.  We use and create validated surveys that can effectively measure specific aspects of psychology and mental wellbeing.  We pick surveys that have had robust research behind their creation and a proven track record of efficacy as measurement tools.  With an accurate ability to measure changes in our clients we are able to understand our impact.  We will get into specifics for each program in later blog posts.

We start by working with experts to create goals for our coaching programs.  These goals help us understand what we hope to help our clients with.  From these goals we identify the variables that we need to measure.  After understanding these elements we can parse the scientific literature to find validated survey tools.  These tools allow us to establish a baseline for our clients. Every subsequent four weeks we ask our clients to repeat these surveys.  We measure the changes in the surveys in comparison to the client's baseline score.  We pool our clients into an aggregate in order to ensure anonymity and protect client privacy.  We look at these aggregate results to understand the quality of our programs.  We subsequently analyze this data as research studies to test hypotheses approved by an IRB.

A combination of analysis for quality assurance and research purposes allow HG to deliver highly effective products. It creates opportunities to understand our programs strengths and weaknesses. We actively use our research and quality assurance methods to maximize our coaching programs strengths and minimize the downsides.

Personal Coaching Outcomes

We created a system to anonymously store the survey responses of our previous clients. We analyzed this data for quality assurance and research purposes.  Our clients prior to meeting with a coach complete a series of questionnaires.  Our questionnaires include validated tools for measuring depression, anxiety, life purpose, and gaming behaviors.  Initially our coaching program was designed to help individuals with video gaming addiction, however as we analyzed our data we were able to determine that coaching also helps improve more than gaming behavior but mental well being more broadly.  Coaching is not a clinical treatment but our clients did see improvements in depression and anxiety.

These results help demonstrate that coaching can be an effective tool to help someone. Coaching was not designed to replace therapy or clinical treatment, rather an expansion to traditional mental healthcare resources. We will continue to do QA and research work on our coaching programs to make it an even more effective resource for clients.

Group Coaching Outcomes

Parent Coaching Outcomes

We created a system to anonymously store the survey responses of our previous clients. We analyzed this data for quality assurance and research purposes. Our clients prior to meeting with a coach complete a series of questionnaires. Our questionnaires include tools for measuring relationship satisfaction between parents and children, along with social engagement. We designed a coaching program to help parents with children that are struggling with gaming or technology addiction. The Parent coaching program was designed to help build alliances between parents and their children to help improve family dynamics. Our results demonstrated that the parents in our program noticed an improvement in their relationship with their child. These improvements led to more engagement with the world outside of technology.
