2022 Impact Report

Angelica
Session 9/20: Client was proud of his past self for making the tough decision to start personal coaching. “Good job, bro.” His brain feels less busy with thoughts, in a good way - less anxiety, loneliness, sadness. He has a new sense of inner peace that lets him focus on new things. Our next goal: building genuine friendships, making new ones and leveling up old ones.

I’m currently watching every talk you have about ADHD. I’m 34 and getting assessed. Thank you
Julia HG
Watching group session turn from “you’re not a burden!” to “it’s okay to be a burden sometimes” to “it’s okay to not be okay with being a burden” and watching the client have a glimmer of hope for the first time, saying: “I am a burden and I feel undeserving of forgiveness, and it’s okay that I can’t believe otherwise right now. Deserving or not, so long as I can keep taking steps and treat others right, maybe someday I will feel like I deserve more.
Above client also contacted a psychologist, which is a HUGE W!!”

Just wanted to let Healthy Gamer staff know that I had a Russian client just now who was in tears of joy and gratefulness over his sessions being subsidized. He said that it was a moment in life he would never forget reading that email. He said that it was the highlight of his week. He said he felt relief, hope and gratitude and it was the first time he had cried from happiness instead of sadness all week. Finally he said it was the first time he understood what charity truly was--the idea that we help you today so you can help others tomorrow. It was really touching so I wanted to share it with y’all since I don’t feel at all responsible but I sure am glad to be working for a company that makes that kind of impact on people.

We created HG in 2019 to address the unique mental health challenges of the internet generation.

Over the past year, we’ve grown, learned, and adapted what we do – all in service to our core mission.

From coaching, to the Guides to Mental Health, to evolving and expanding what AOE healing means – the impact we’re having is incredible. In just a few years, we’ve not only launched coaching programs targeting the unique challenges of the digital generation, we’ve also held over 100,000 sessions that have been rated 4.5/5 or higher across the board. We built it, and it's working. We’ve reached over 100MM views on Youtube and 500K plays on Dr. K’s Guide to Mental Health, proving that the conversation around mental wellness has never been more necessary or important. We’ve also launched initiatives to shape policy, collaborate with the United Nations and other organizations, and are conducting research projects to support our mission via the Healthy Gamer Foundation and Healthy Gamer Institute. And, there’s plenty more to come.

At the end of the day, it’s more than just the numbers. It’s the person who went from nine months of unemployment to embarking on a new career that brings them happiness and confidence. It’s the person who used to live a healthy life, lost their way, but is now back on track and living with purpose. Helping people find direction in their life, and equipping them with tools to succeed. It’s the people on Discord who’ve never met, but extend a helping hand across the globe to people who are struggling. That’s what gets us out of bed in the morning, and it’s what drives us forward into the exciting path ahead.

Thanks for being you and helping us on our journey. Let’s make sure the world knows: mental health is more than mental illness.

When I started watching Dr. K, I was unemployed for 9 months, I would wake up at noon, I’d play video games all day, and I overal felt pretty shitty and ashamed of myself. Since watching his videos, I’ve been meditating, and generally following his advice. I’ve found a decent job, I happily wake up at 5am daily, and I genuinely feel happy about myself and the other I’m on.

Thanks Dr. K <3 you were a very important catalyst in my life. Good luck to everyone else on their journey.

Alok, I swear every single one of your videos lately have been talking about the specific problem on my mind at the time. They have been most helpful and I really appreciate these lectures particularly. Keep up the great work.

Really enjoying @HealthyGamerGG's course so far. On the one hand a lot of the psychology stuff is stuff I've picked up.

But the completeness means that I'm learning some medical and meditation stuff too, and it's all related to each other.

Over the pandemic, all I did after work was smoke weed and play video games. I think I was dealing with depression from isolation. I went from being a workout fiend of 205 lbs to weighing over 300 lbs. I randomly found Dr. K scrolling through YouTube and watched every possible video I found helpful to me. Now I weigh 240lbs and I only play video games at 8pm. I consistently wake up at 7am when I used to sleep until 1pm sometimes. It’s those baby steps of self-care that matter the most.

I want to thank Dr. K for what he is doing. The guide is amazing, the streams and videos are amazing and the coaching program is amazing. I am glad this place exists because if it didn’t I wouldn’t be studying right now how does my body work and what can I do about it. Instead I would probably be playing my 10th league game for the day. I just wanted to appreciate what we have and hope it grows even more.
@xlvrbk
Dunno if this would help but learned this concepts from @HealthyGamerGG. Was in a bad place, mental health-wise a couple of months ago and listening to his videos on youtube and getting his self-coaching course really helped me.

with more research

We've been monitoring the outcomes of our coaching programs and received IRB-approval to review our data for research purposes. This allows HG to publish and present our outcomes data to our community! We presented the preliminary results of our coaching program this year at the American Psychiatric Association’s Annual Meeting, the APA's premiere event to advance psychiatry. This was a great opportunity for us to showcase our research to the academic and medical community. Our coaching program was well received, and many psychiatrists from around the world agreed there is great value in adding coaching to the mental health ecosystem.

IRB-approved studies on efficacy of:

Personal Coaching
Group Coaching
Creator Coaching
Career Coaching
Parent Coaching

After 20 weeks of HG Coaching, clients saw an average of:

The Scientific Advisory Board was instituted to ensure that HG upholds the highest ethical standards and keeps up with the latest research. To support this, we’ve called on the expertise of a wide-ranging group of mental health professionals. with more partnerships in gaming and mental health

We’re redefining the mental health space, and partnering with the top companies and organizations to do so. Spreading AOE to animators at Frederator and mental health knowledge to employees at Indeed, speaking at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) with Unity and making creator resources for Facebook Gaming—are just the beginning!

with more advocacy and research with Healthy Gamer Foundation

The Healthy Gamer Foundation was founded to champion the mental health needs of young people. We're dedicated to finding mental health interventions that work for young people and add fuel through funding, policy, and targeted research to drive action. This year, that mission was reinforced through the addition of industry legends to the foundation's board.
